Cephalic region

The region of the neural tube that corresponds to head structures in the developed vertebrate.

Cerberus

A member of the cytosine knot family, important in the differentiation of the head during embryonic development. Binds to and inhibits BMP and nodal signalling molecule functions.

Cerebellum

Region of the brain that plays an important role in the integration of sensory perception, coordination and motor control.

Cerebral hemispheres

Either of the two symmetrical halves of the cerebrum, as divided by the longitudinal cerebral fissure.

Chordamesoderm

The area of the mesoderm that forms the notochord, the final portion of the axial mesoderm to migrate during gastrulation.

Chordin

An antagonist of BMP 4 signalling by directly binding to BMP signalling molecules, important in neural induction.

Churchill (chch)

A small, highly conserved zinc finger transcription factor which is activated in response to FGF signalling.

Clomiphine

A synthetic drug that is used in its citrate form to stimulate ovulation.

Convergent extension

  Is the process during organogenesis in which layers of cells intercalate (converge) and become longer (extend).

Cytochalasin B

A cell-permeable mycotoxin that blocks the formation of contractile microfilaments.
